Who is your engagement photographer in Florence?

Foto Cine Gori is a family photography studio in Florence, and if you are looking for an engagement photographer in Florence, this is it. Giacomo Gori and Chiara Reggiani run it, and we are the second generation of it. Engagement, pre-wedding and couple sessions, here and across Tuscany, in English and Italian.

Most of the couples we photograph are over from the US or the UK with two or three days in the city, so an engagement photographer in Florence has to work around the trip, not the other way round. We plan the session around your days.

The session

What do you get from an engagement photographer in Florence?

An engagement session with us runs one to two hours, depending on what you book, and covers one or two spots in the city. You get at least 80 edited photographs in a private online gallery, colour and black and white, at full resolution, within ten days. There is room for a change of clothes inside the time you have booked.

One or two of us shoot it, depending on the session. Prints and albums are not part of it; if you want one afterwards we make them at the studio.

Recent stories from Tuscany

What does an engagement session in Tuscany look like?

A few recent sessions. Working as an engagement photographer in Florence and across Tuscany, we shape each one around the couple: these are starting points, not formulas.

Florence and Tuscany

Where do the sessions happen?

As an engagement photographer in Florence, we work on foot: the centre, the river, the Oltrarno, the terraces above the city. The whole historic centre of Florence is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and it is small enough to cross in a morning, which is why a session here is a walk between two or three spots rather than a drive between them. We pick them with you once we know your dates and where you are staying.

Outside the city we work in Chianti, San Gimignano, the Val d’Orcia and Pienza, and the Crete Senesi. A countryside session is its own booking, with its own drive: it is not something we tack onto the end of a city one.

We do not work outside Tuscany. Local to Florence, at home in Tuscany.

Three services

What is the difference between an engagement, a pre-wedding and a proposal shoot?

An engagement session photographs a couple after the proposal, with no event attached: your dates, your pace. A pre-wedding session is the same shoot with a job to do, usually booked in the days before a wedding in Tuscany, when the photos are going on invitations and welcome signs. A proposal shoot is different work altogether, because the photographer hides and the timing is planned to the minute.

A pre-wedding session is not automatically part of a wedding package. Here it is agreed separately, case by case.

Before, during, after

How does an engagement session in Florence work?

Before

You send your dates and where you are staying. We come back with the hour that works and a couple of routes, and we settle it between us. That planning is part of the job of an engagement photographer in Florence, and it happens before you have committed to anything.

On the day

We meet at the first stop. No posing session, no shot list to get through: we walk, and we work around you. You will be told when to stand still and when to ignore us, and that is about the whole of it.

After

A private online gallery, edited, colour and black and white, within ten days.

We hired for an engagement photoshoot in the streets of Florence. The Gori’s both showed up with cameras. Not only did they direct us perfectly to get the best photos but they also took us to secret photo spots known only by locals and told us stories as we walked through each of the areas. We cannot be more happy!

From abroad

Can you book an engagement photographer in Florence from abroad?

Most of the couples who book us as their engagement photographer in Florence are not in Italy when they do it, and we have worked with couples from every continent. Everything before the day happens by message or by email, in English. Florence is six hours ahead of New York and one ahead of London, so we work around your hours rather than ours.

If you are comparing dates, tell us both: it is quicker than going back and forth.

Giacomo and Chiara

Who will you be working with?

Foto Cine Gori is run by Giacomo Gori and Chiara Reggiani. We both work in English and Italian.

The studio is at via Roma 45, Calenzano (Florence), a quarter of an hour from the centre, and there is a portrait room in piazza Gramsci. It is a real place you can walk into, which also means we have somewhere indoors if the weather turns.

Before the day

What should you wear?

Two things matter more than the rest. The first is shoes, because a session in town is mostly a walk on cobblestones, and the second is keeping your two outfits in the same range of tones: they do not need to match, they just should not fight. Big logos and hard whites are the ones that do not photograph well.

Send us two options the week before and we will tell you which works.

FAQ

Questions couples ask

How long is an engagement session?

An engagement session with Foto Cine Gori lasts one to two hours, depending on the session. The longer one fits two locations and a change of clothes; the shorter one works for a single spot.

How many photographs do we get, and when?

Foto Cine Gori delivers at least 80 edited photographs in a private online gallery within ten days, in colour and black and white at full resolution.

How far in advance should we book an engagement photographer in Florence?

In high season, book an engagement photographer in Florence two to three months ahead. Outside high season there is usually more room.

Do you publish your prices?

The figure depends on the length of the session and on where it happens. Send us your dates and what you have in mind, and we will send you ours.

Is a pre-wedding session included in your wedding packages?

No. A pre-wedding session is agreed separately, case by case, and is not automatically part of a wedding booking with Foto Cine Gori.

What happens if it rains?

We look at the forecast together and decide. Depending on the day there are covered options, the portrait room at the studio, or a change of slot. What is possible depends on how long you are in Florence.

Can we bring our dog?

Yes, dogs are welcome at an engagement session in Florence. Tell us in advance so we can plan the session around them.

We are not comfortable in front of a camera. Is that a problem?

Most couples are not, and it does not matter. An engagement session with Foto Cine Gori is a walk, not a set. There is nothing to perform, and the first twenty minutes are usually the ones that get deleted.

Do you speak English?

Yes. Giacomo Gori and Chiara Reggiani both work in English, and most of the couples who book Foto Cine Gori as their engagement photographer in Florence are over from the US or the UK.

Do you travel outside Tuscany?

No. As an engagement photographer in Florence, Foto Cine Gori works in the city and its hills, Chianti, the Val d’Orcia and Pienza, San Gimignano and the Crete Senesi.
