Proposal Photos in Florence and Tuscany

Every proposal photo on this page comes from a real surprise proposal we photographed, not from a styled shoot. Most of the couples came from abroad and planned everything with us over WhatsApp or email, without the person being proposed to knowing anything.

Each proposal follows the same sequence. We are in position before you arrive, we photograph the walk in, the question and the answer, then the first minutes after, when the ring goes on and the phone calls start. If a short portrait session was booked, it follows nearby, once the secret is out.

Foto Cine Gori is a family-run photography and video studio just outside Florence, run by Giacomo Gori and Chiara Reggiani. This portfolio collects 89 photographs from surprise proposals in Florence, in the gardens and villas around the city, in Chianti, in San Gimignano and in the Val d’Orcia, grouped by place.

Florence from above, with the Duomo, Giotto’s bell tower and Palazzo Vecchio behind the couple. Most of these proposals happened on the terraces and gardens on the hill south of the Arno, a few down by the river: in the warm light of the evening, in the haze of a summer morning and, once, in the rain under an umbrella.

Some photos show the question itself, some the seconds after, some the portraits we took nearby once the secret was out. That is what a proposal shoot with us looks like from start to finish.

Vineyards, stone terraces and castles between Florence and Siena. In Chianti we photographed proposals at Castello di Brolio, among the vineyards of Castello di Gabbiano, at Cinciano and at Poggio Amorelli; in a couple of them the family joined the newly engaged couple right after the yes.
