A Medici villa in the hills west of Florence
A Villa La Ferdinanda wedding takes place in one of the Medici villas: known in Italian as the Villa dei Cento Camini, the villa of a hundred chimneys, it stands at Artimino, in the hills west of Florence. Ferdinando I de’ Medici had it built to a design by Bernardo Buontalenti, and it is one of the Medici Villas and Gardens on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Outside
The facade and the lawn
In front of the facade is a wide lawn, with a double staircase rising to the loggia; to one side, a gazebo and terracotta pots. From the loggia the view takes in the garden and, beyond it, the Montalbano hills. Today the villa is part of the Tenuta di Artimino estate, which also hosts weddings.
From above, the villa sits among the olive groves and vineyards of the estate.
The roof
A hundred chimneys
On the roof are the chimneys, all different, that give the villa its Italian nickname: one of the details we look for when we work here.
Inside, the main hall has a large stone fireplace and a table for the seating plan under a portrait.
The halls

For dinner, the large hall was set with round tables and ivory tablecloths under tall windows. Another hall has a vaulted, frescoed ceiling.
The table
Table details
On the tables, white flowers in the centrepieces, crystal glasses and decorated plates with the place card on the napkin. We photographed the set-up in the natural light from the windows.
