A wedding in the mountains of the Garfagnana
This wedding in Barga started with the bride and groom getting ready, moved to the Duomo of San Cristoforo at the top of the hill town of Barga, in the province of Lucca, and ended with dinner and dancing at Agriturismo Ai Frati, in Pieve Fosciana.

Getting ready
The groom and the bride getting ready
The groom dressed at home: anchor-shaped cufflinks, the shirt, the waistcoat, the buttonhole pinned at the last minute. The bride got ready with her friends and bridesmaids: make-up, hair, a lace dress hanging in the window at the end of the corridor, blue shoes on the terracotta floor.

The Duomo
The Duomo of San Cristoforo
The Duomo of Barga is a Romanesque stone church at the top of the town, its terrace looking out over the mountains. The bride arrived in a light blue Ape Calessino, the little three-wheeler, along the narrow streets.
Inside, the vows and the rings under the arches of the nave, then the walk out of the main door into the guests’ cheers.

We took the portraits around the Duomo: under a large tree on the terrace and in the lanes of the old town.
The party
At Agriturismo Ai Frati
The party was at Agriturismo Ai Frati in Pieve Fosciana: a seating plan with lavender, centrepieces of oranges and yellow flowers, a white gazebo on the lawn and a few portraits in the arched cloister before dinner. After dark, friends lit coloured smoke flares and everyone danced on the lawn.
